How to use But and although (-지만)

1. Contrasting qualities

Two qualities set against each other

이 식당은 비싸지만 맛있어요.
This restaurant is expensive but the food is good.

2. Concession

Admitting the fact, while the outcome is not what you would expect

열심히 공부했지만 시험을 못 봤어요.
I studied hard, but the exam did not go well.

1. Fill in the contrastive ending: 이 가방은 예쁘___ 너무 비싸요.

Options: 고 · 아서 · 으면 · 지만

2. Fill in the contrastive ending on a verb: 열심히 일했___ 돈이 없어요.

3. Choose the correct sentence: 'It is cold, but I am going out.'
