-아/어야 하다 expresses obligation or necessity - 'must' or 'have to'. -아/어야 되다 means the same thing and is more common in speech. Key patterns: Must do... (after a bright vowel); Must do... (after a dark vowel); Must do... (하다 verbs).

야. 가다: the vowel ㅏ calls for 아야, and 가 + 아야 contracts to 가야, giving 가야 해요, 'have to go'.

야. 공부하다 gives 공부해야 하다, so 공부해야 해요 means 'have to study'.

아침을 먹어야 해요.. 먹다: the vowel ㅓ calls for 어야, giving 먹어야 해요, 'have to eat'.

우산을 가져오지 않아도 돼요.. For 'no need': verb + 지 않아도 돼요. 가져오지 않아도 돼요 means 'you do not have to bring it.'

건강하려면 매일 운동해야 해요.. 건강하려면 means 'if you want to be healthy', combining intention with condition: 려면 (from 려고 + 면) followed by 아야 해요.

어야. 읽다: the vowel ㅣ takes 어야, giving 읽어야 해요, "have to read". The sentence means "I have to read this book by tomorrow."

야. 일어나다: the stem ends in ㅏ, so 아야, and 나 + 아 contracts: 일어나야 해요. The sentence means "I have to get up early tomorrow morning."

들어야. 듣다: ㄷ becomes ㄹ before a vowel, and ㅡ takes 어야, giving 들어야 해요. The sentence means "In class you have to listen carefully to the teacher."

했어요. The past of 아/어야 하다 goes on 하다: 해야 했어요, "had to". The sentence means "Yesterday I had to work late at the office."
